Elon Musk's X just debuted an app for smart TVs, marking its entry into the streaming arena.
This week, X introduced features reminiscent of other video platforms like YouTube, including trending videos, cross-platform smartphone compatibility, and algorithmically curated suggestions, as reported by The Washington Times.
Linda Yaccarino, X's CEO, spearheading the push for the new app, expressed in a statement: "From small screens to big screens, X is revolutionizing the viewing experience. Soon, our X TV App will deliver real-time, captivating content right to your smart TVs." She added, "It will be your ultimate companion for immersive entertainment on a larger scale."
Yaccarino's announcement tweet also offered a glimpse of the app's user interface, showcasing thumbnails of various videos, such as Tucker Carlson's interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin and a SpaceX rocket launch.
The X TV app is a cornerstone of the platform's strategy to dominate the online video landscape.
Musk emphasized that video content is a primary focus for X, collaborating with numerous renowned content creators to directly upload their work to X.
Aside from securing an exclusive deal with Carlson, Musk facilitated arrangements for Don Lemon and Tulsi Gabbard. Lemon's show was axed by the billionaire following a contentious initial interview.
