Galaxy Phone Users Report Green Line Display Issue After Software Update

There have been a number of reports circulating about display glitches affecting some older Samsung Galaxy phones after a software update.

NewsPro has reported that several users are griping about the green line seen on some Galaxy S21, S21 Ultra, and S21 FE models. This green line error disrupts the screen and can even cause other problems.

Meanwhile, SamMobile identified other affected devices, including the Galaxy A73, Galaxy M21, Galaxy M52 5G, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S22 series, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 at the top of the S21 series.

This is unacceptable in Samsung. Another soldier down. I was updating it to the April patch, the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung really brought a new green line issue. Oh and btw, the phone is in mint condition as you can see from earlier tweets in my TL.

Users are seeing the green line issue either out of the blue or after installing One UI 6.0 or the April 2024 security update. So, it looks like it might be related to some software glitches. Additionally, there are cases where the error appears during heavy usage like gaming.

It's possible that some underlying hardware issue has been worsened by the update, which is showing up as those annoying green lines on the screen.

Fortunately, the phones are still ticking away just fine. Usually, a quick reboot or factory reset should resolve these software hiccups.
"Samsung is committed to providing the best possible mobile experiences and product quality is one of our top priorities. If you experience the vertical line symptom, please contact an authorized Samsung service center for appropriate action. Go."

It turns out this isn't the first rodeo for Galaxy phones and green lines. If you go back months or years, you'll find people bumping into the same green line snag. In early 2021, Samsung had to quietly release a software update for the Galaxy S20 Ultra due to green tint and a handful of other headaches.

Green lines aren't exactly new with OLED screens, even affecting other brands like OnePlus. The hard part is, no one is sure what motivates them. Hopefully Samsung will figure this out and fix it for Galaxy users soon.
